An ideal couples retreat

Harker Healing Holidays
In 2019, you would have probably walked past this rustic house and not thought much about it. Since Tess bought the property, she has poured years of patient work into transforming it into something that mirrors her own journey - a space where healing happens, both seen and unseen.

A sanctuary tucked away in Huntington, the cottage sits on its own piece of countryside where sheep graze in the surrounding fields and the nearest neighbour feels wonderfully distant. The cottage now offers two cozy bedrooms, each one designed with the kind of intentional comfort that invites you to truly rest. A quietness that wraps around you. Look out any window and you're met with pastoral views, sheep dotting the landscape, the kind of scenery that slows your breath without you even noticing.

Inside, the kitchen immediately sets the tone. Warm wood countertops and a striking wood-burning stove create a space that feels both practical and soul-warming. You have to admire the vintage touches that line the open shelving.

The bathroom is the cottage's crown jewel. Spacious and thoughtfully designed, it features a deep soaking tub perfect for long, contemplative baths and a shower framed by charming stable doors. Here, self-care isn't rushed. It's lingering steam, candlelight, and all the time you need.

As evening falls, the cottage comes alive in a different way. Candles flicker on windowsills. Warm lights create pockets of golden glow. The fireplace warms up the cottage.

The two bedrooms feel like retreats within the retreat. Skylights frame patches of sky, so you can watch clouds drift past or catch glimpses of stars before sleep. Every piece of furniture tells a story, vintage dressers, carefully restored pieces, nothing matching but everything belonging.

It's clear Tess has poured her heart into this cottage. The warmth inside extends far beyond the wood stove, it's in every carefully restored detail, every hand-painted surface. But the work didn't stop there. The garden is very well done, inviting you to wander, to sit, to spend long afternoons outside with nothing on the agenda.
In 2026, Tess is opening the cottage for healing holidays. Experiences for people who need to step away from the noise and remember what matters.
The journey to this point hasn't been straightforward. In Tess's own words: "I just had to start. Somewhere. Anywhere! The early days were tough, but I learned so much from my little home. Discipline, structure, perseverance, confidence, communication, attention to detail, and most importantly, to trust the process. Have faith that it will all be OK in the end. And if it's not OK, it's not the end."
That philosophy lives in every corner of this cottage. A reminder that transformation, of houses, of lives , begins with a single decision to try.
